Bansky, 2012, Dimensions N/A, digital media. DESIGN ONLY © Anduin Vaid.

Admittedly, I am not very familiar with Bansky’s work, as it seems to be more so political than focused on the actual artistic technique or simple beauty of image, but I agree with the sentiment behind this quote. Furthermore, I understand it, being a luckless artist myself–why be miserable hoping some rich person comes along and buys your work when you can apply your talents to a day-to-day job. It may be trading passion for stability, but it is surviving…and at the end of the day, no one cares if another introvert artist slips into the permanent night.

Self Portrait Color Studies (1-9) , 2012, Dimensions N/A, digital media. © Anduin Vaid

Funneling my creative whims into various other neglected projects, but always playing with color, shape, and various visuals. At work mostly writing various portions of a graphic novel, but will post the various artistic goings on via Instagram (and also here).

The Revival, April 2012 (3rd take), Open G Tuning.

More experimentation with alternate tunings, albeit this one is a slide tuning…and I am not playing slide. There’s a solid composition in this collection of notes, and I am happy just to be creating little half-melody songs again. No pyrotechnics, no team of dancers, no $100k worth of equipment and technicians, no meat dress or exposed nipples…and yet the actual music is so much better than anything with any of the aforementioned. Just a passion for music, a guitar, a living room, and a simple recorder is all you need.

Something Like a Remedy, Recorded 4/17/2012 (first and only take).

“Something like a Remedy,

my sound against the silence,

the steel against my blood,

and my time cast into the walls.”

My first time experimenting around with Open D tuning. Sat down, played for 5 minutes, and this is what came out. Being a first and only take, it needs more coherence, etc., but I am happy to leave it broken and unfinished for somewhere in the sound there is great meaning for me…and peace.

Time Forgets Us All v2 , 2012, Dimensions N/A, digital media. © Anduin Vaid

A piece taken from one of my many writings, then put to some digital “dressing.” I have so many of these pieces–concentrated descriptive emotive writings–that I’ve, from time to time, made sections of graphic novels with them.

For years I designed/drew tattoos, having compiled a small collection of ideas together that were to be tattoos I would have done on myself. Then, as I am want to get rid of my work once it is done, as for I take pleasure in the process of creation but rarely care for the finished product, I sold my self-tattoo ideas (all of them) to a couple. This photo remains as my only self-tattoo idea, but the significance that the simple heart stands for has not been reached yet…nor may ever…so at least for now, I remain tattoo-less.

However, I have done various other people’s tattoo designs over the years, most recently a few months back drawing up one for the president of the resort I work for. I will get one done, eventually, although it will have to be right–it will have to be perfect–so it will most likely be some time. Thoughts?
